What do I do if I am unable to work on my scheduled day?
First, try to call other parents in class to cover. If no one is available contact your child’s teacher.
Who may substitute for me other than parents?
Any family member (e.g. grandparents, aunts, uncles) may substitute. Child care providers may not substitute.
Who do I call regarding a problem with my child’s teacher?
Talk to your child’s teacher first. If problem persists, speak to the Education or Administrative Director or the President.
Who do I call if my child is having a problem at school?
Your child’s teacher should be contacted, then the Educational Director.
What do I do if I am late for pick up?
If you know you will be late, please call the school ASAP to tell your child’s teacher. You will be charged a late fee for persistent tardiness.
What if I have an idea for a class project?
Our teachers are very open to ideas – if you have an idea please suggest it to your child’s teacher.
What if I have an idea/suggestion for the school?
Please contact your child’s teacher, the Educational Director, Administrative Director or the President.
How do I know if school will be closed?
Refer to the school calendar mailed in early August for all public holidays. During inclement weather, check your email and monitor television stations WTNH (Channel 8) or Cablevision News 12. If Norwalk schools are closed, CCNS is closed. If school is shut down midday due to a storm or for any other reason, you will be contacted to pick up your child. If you can’t be reached, CCNS will contact someone from your emergency list.
How can I celebrate my child’s birthday?
• You may bring a snack. Please speak to your teacher regarding their classroom policy on snacks
• You may choose to donate a gift to the school. Contact the library chair who will have a list of suggestions.
What do I do if I don’t have a sitter for a sibling when I need to work in the
classroom? State law does not allow unregistered children in the classroom. Call another parent or relative to substitute or baby-sit.
How do I decide if my child is too sick to attend school?
Review your child’s symptoms. If in doubt, keep them home.
