The Playground

The playground in the back of the school contains a large wooden climbing structure with a Burma Bridge, a tower and slide. Two playhouses, a life size wooden jeep and a huge sand box are usually filled with activity during the generous recess times provided during the school day. There is plenty of blacktop space to ride the many toddler bikes and cars, or play all sorts of ball games. There are also traditional swings and a spinning tire swing.

A large hill with trees serves a fantastic backdrop to the children’s creative play. The teachers often pull out bins of interesting outside toys/activities for the children to use such as large bubble blowers, insect collecting kits and spray bottles of paint to make murals.

The new playground and the long slide built into the hill were installed in 2001 in memory of Myles Beringer. A reading garden installed in 2002 provides a quiet place for teachers to read to the children in warmer weather or just a place for the children to have some time to themselves.
